I have a jailbroken iphone... The last couple of days it has been draining the battery within a few hours and it got me searching for a solution. I had a suspicion it had to do with the SIM card/network am using since recently I had traveled to Kenya and it was working just fine with there (atleast 12hrs usage time). So when I got to this website and a few other people had the same concern I was convinced this might be the issue. I switched off the phone, took off the SIM card and turned it on again without the SIM. Then I turned it off and reinserted the SIM and turned it back on. I have noticed a change in battery usage.. will monitor it and get back to see if it worked.

My ipod device 1G is a most valuable iPod, Pda and a whole lot more, not to mention has has been day that I recieved it. It also function the most up-to-date iPod system software program, and also any application I will want it to operate. I'm using it to leave this comment at this time. I'd say it truly is a lot more as compared with just an "excellent hobbyist system" -- it really is an superb iPod

I had a jailbroken iPhone 3G 16GB, and it ran out of battery like from 100% in 5 hours down to 17%. Didn't use it at all, just to check the time. So I took it back to the apple shop, after about half an hour of them taking it to the back and bringing new people out, they gave me a new one, didn't bother jailbreaking and i wanted to see how long the battery lasts. it only lasted about 5 hours longer till it was in the same position. I turned off push notifications for the moment to see if it works.

The processor chip is tagged as a little newer model amount however it and also the GPU are most likely the same speed as the 3GS. The old Contact with the same Processor and GPU as the 3G was quicker. Apart from getting the clock pace turned up greater the Contact has less software programs to run since it

Well, bought my 3gs about 6 weeks ago.

I posted my comments on its battery life earlier in the thread.

Eagerly did the 3.1.3 update offered up on Thursday/Friday, hoping it would fix the battery issues. Noticed a slightly better life, but no where near enought to make me happy.

Got fed up with the crappy battery life so went into the o2 shop to complain. Got the 'your outside the 30 days return policy' speech, (I wasnt in the mood to argue the UK trading laws with the spotty faced little boy), and was told I could have the handset sent off to apple for investigation, or go in to an apple service centre in person.

So, travelled 20 or so miles to Brighton and entered the Apple service centre. Immediately saw the screen listed the appointment queue, including a line reading no more appointments available.

Appointment ?? the little shelf stacker at o2 failed to mention booking an appointment.

An apple guy asked me if he could help, I explained the situation and asked to book an appointment, which he did for another day, but then he said 'hang on, let me see if someone can't help you out'

Hmmm, slightly gobsmacked, and a bit suspicious that I was just about to get another 20 mins of my time wasted only to be told, yeah, you need an appointment to look at that particular problem.

How wrong I was.

Within about 10 mins the MANAGER appeared, I explained the problem, explained i'm not a knob and had tried all the various power saving and battery conditioning tips. He was cool about that, accepted that I knew what I was talking about and agreed to plug the handset into their laptop to do some analysis.

At this point I had been out of my car for 1 hr and 4 mins. The phone was 100% on leaving the car. Apart from turning the home screen on, absolutely no usuage, everything turned off and the battery was down to 97%.

The manager plugged it into his laptop diagnostics and it displayed batter was at 84% !! So it had actually lost more charge than the phone was displaying. Despite the 1.3.3 update which supposedly specifically addressed a problem of misrepresented battery levels.

Instantly the Manager said he's swap for a new handset.

I have to say, the Manager and the other guy at Apple in Brighton (UK) were exceptional, i'm a bit agressive when it comes to shops and customer service, but they handled me well and sorted me out (without an appointment). Full marks to Apple on that score.

However, the new handset seems to be no different than the old one, still the same crappy battery life !!
