We have successfully unlocked our iPhone 3G from vodafone simply by paying them $75 and waiting a few days. After recieving a confirmation text message we popped in a different sim and connected to iTunes. The update took 5 seconds and the phone worked immediately on optus. A lot of the networks are now saying they are not getting new iPhone stock for 6 to 8 weeks… However if you can’t wait that long, you can always find an Apple Store and get there at around 5am to get to the front of the line and get one tomorrow!

Yes, there are still lines starting at 5am for the iPhone… Funnily enough though, they line filters in to 3 separate lanes for Telstra, Optus and Vodafone respectively.
