iPhoneBuzz reports: iPhone Developer contracts are not as easy as one would hope if looking to renew. As the year closes since the doors opened for developers to make their own iPhone Applications, some may not be able to renew.
On the one-year anniversary of third-party iPhone App development, developers need to renew their contracts to avoid having their software pulled from the App Store. This is one thing, problem is that they are facing difficulty having the contract and cooperation from Apple finalized in time. The reasons behind this have not become obvious. However the March deadline is Apple’s first definitive test of its ability to maintain long-term development relationships with those writing apps for the iPhone and iPod touch. The contracts are needed as part of the iPhone Developer Program in order to have iPhone applications listed in the App Store. Apparently, in March 2008 developers were told that an online option would be available 90 days before the contract(s) expired. The end of March however is 20 days away. There are currently 25,000 Apps out there, 10,000 were registered since January. This is a major kink the in the system for the iPhone developer and could see major panic in the industry.
Playing on the success of Apple’s PhotoBooth app on the Mac, Old Booth takes a photo of you and not only does it make it ‘look’ old, it has a series of fantastic masked ‘old’ people that you can place your face in, to see what you would have looked like in the 60’s or 70’s.
This app is really good fun, and the coding behind the app is truely phenomenal. The light version is free, and will entertain you and your friends for ages.
Coca Cola have got in on the iPhone act with this ’spin the bottle’ style app. I guess this will be fun for teenagers at parties where they’ve drunk too much, however I don’t think many people have ever played spin the bottle whilst drinking Coca Cola????

Groups is a handy little app, that allows you to organise your Contacts in to Groups. If you use a Mac you will no doubt already have used groups in your Contacts app on your desktop machine. Groups are a great way of managing your large contact list, but on the iPhone it’s always been a little cumbersome to do so. Now though, with Groups, you can easily drag and drop your friends in to groups, and best of all, this syncs with Mobile Me as well, so any changes to Groups made on your iPhone also reflect on your Mac too.
The iPhone headphone socket has a little contact switch inside it that tells the iPhone to switch from external audio to headphones audio when plugged in. Sometimes this can get some dust or fluff underneath the contact and the iPhone or iPhone 3G can get jammed in headphones mode.
To cure this, one suggestion from Apple Technicians is to insert and retract the headphone jack a few times to dislodge the dust or fluff and clear the contacts in the iPhone.
Be gentle, you don’t want to break your iPhone or Headphones.

Independent developer Bas Tossings has released a charming new iPhone game called Loopy Laboratory. While it’s not entirely perfect, after playing too many half-finished games and glorified tech demos, it was refreshing to finally see a game with some depth and character. One iTunes reviewer has described this as a remake of Chip’s Challenge/Tile World which it does seem to resemble though the developer says he was inspired by a number of older puzzle games which came together for this project.
The gameplay video shows a few of the early levels (3, 6, 7) and a later level (31). Note that the conveyor belt does not video tape well (grey moving walkway). [toucharcade]
Black Mamba Racer is a $3.99 2D overhead racer in which you skid and slide your way around 25 racing mission across 9 different tracks. While the graphics may look primitive, the gameplay is surprisingly fun and challenging. iTunes App Store
