i have 3.0 on my 3g… and i have percentage but no toggle switch… is that normal?
June 11th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Maybe it’s a feature that will be available on the final release of 3.0 (the one on June 17th)
June 14th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
all wrong.
it is only available on the new iPhone 3Gs.
it is not available on the iPhone and iPhone 3G.

Months ago I had my phone jailbroken and had a hack to toggle percent/icon. I un-jailbroke my phone (harder than jailbreaking it!) and that remained. Today I updated to iPhone OS3.0 and I have no toggle option, but percentage AND the icon… this is all on a 1st gen iPhone.

@jack, you are wrong. My friend who came over after he upgraded his iPhone 3G had the percentage but no toggle for it. But I don’t have it and he has no idea how he got it so if someone could help me get it, that would be great.

I have the gen1 iphone, just updated to 3.0, and I have this on my phone now. I don’t have the option under Usage to turn it on or off though.
I also upgraded my girlfriend’s 3G, and she doesn’t have it, nor does she have the option to turn it on or off. Kinda weird.

Yeah I have 3 phones in this household, 2x 3G and 1x First Gen. None of them have the % meter or any way to turn it on. Not sure what the heck is going on.

@Nick, no, you are wrong.
To get it ‘unofficially’ like your friend did, you need to jailbreak your iPhone 3G. i have a friend who had jailbroken his 2.2.1 iPhone. when he updated it to 3.0 it retained the battery percentage.
I’m talking about an ‘official’ way to acquire it- there is NONE.

three jailbroken 2.2.1 phones and one non jailbroken. All did the update to OS3 and two of the jail broken ones retained a bettery percentage, one of them did not and the non-jb one didnt either.

Absolute rubbish jack. Ive 2 iPhones in the house. Neither are jailbroken. Using the exact same software that I downloaded to update, 1 shows the percent and the other doesn’t. Total pain as I can’t figure why one has it and the other doesn’t!!

I don’t have the toggle for it but when i updated i had the percentage number along with the icon.
BTW i was jailbroken and did a restore to remove the jailbreak 2 days before 3.0 was released and i still got the percentage.
i thought it was cause i was jailbroken but people are getting it both ways jailbroken or not. i’m confused

Eoin, on the iphone that has the battery percentage- you’re saying it was never jailbroken before? because that’ll be the very first ive heard of that, unless of course you installed an earlier beta of the 3.0 software. if you’ve never ever jail broken that device* and updated it through itunes after the official release, i wouldnt believe you.
*and its not a 3GS of course

this isnt a hack.
my sisters boyfriend updated his and his is a 2g and he has the percentage meter.
i have a 3g and it didnt show up when i updated it.
its a really cool feature though.
i wish i had got lucky and got it. =/
