[ipodnn] Paramount Digital Entertainment has launched the School of Rock app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The program is based on the School of Rock movie, and teaches users about the principles of music, while focusing on four main areas, divided into the School of Drums, School of Keys, School of Guitar and School of Bass. Classic rock tracks are provided to play along with, from bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Scorpions and Royal.
Users play with a selection of instruments that replicate the sounds of real ones, from the likes of Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Peavey, Taylor, Washburn and Hohner. Music trivia questions are included to test knowledge, and any iTunes track can be used for jam play. Jam sessions can be recorded. School of Rock is available from iTunes for $7.
