Let’s be honest, the selection of headsets with microphones for the iPhone are very limited, and if like myself, you don’t like in ear headphones, then you’re pretty much down to 3 or 4 good headsets, all over $300 each.
“Currently, we’re using the brilliant $199 Bose On Ear Headphones available from the Apple Store. Bose also sell a $299 version of the same set of headphones with an inline Microphone, however, this has no ‘answer call/music control button’, so we’ve been reticent to upgrade considering the extortionate price hike.”
However the playing field has changed now thanks to Shure’s fantastic new inline Microphone Adapter for iPhone. The small cable/mic simply plugs in between your iPhone and any set of headphones and makes them an iPhone handsfree kit.
Shure’s core business is microphones, and we were not let down after testing the microphone with the Bose headset. The noise reduction was fantastic, and the wind shield worked well. The button on the device answers and ends calls, and play/pauses music when not in a call. When you are listening to music, a double tap pushes the iPhone forward one track and a triple tap on the microphone button will push the iPhone back one track.
The Shure Music Phone Adapter for iPhone retails for $49, and when paired with the Bose On Ear Headphones, not only gives you the addition of button control, but also will save you $50 (compared to Bose’s own headset/microphone combo) and give you a higher quality, less muffled microphone. If you want to save money, and have the choice of using any set of headphones with your iPhone as a headset, then you need to get a Shure Music Phone Adapter for iPhone straight away!
The only thing that would make this microphone flawless would be the addition of a volume control. Hopefully Apple will add this iPod Touch feature to the iPhone in the next update.
Features:
- Tuned to enhance intelligibility regardless of background noise, this professional-grade Shure microphone uses VoicePort technology to provide superior sound quality and ensure that you hear conversations clearly even in noisy environments
- Control button that offers enhanced functionality and convenience by enabling you to easily make and end calls, – without touching your phone
- Detachable, modular design provides greater flexibility by allowing you to remove the MPA when it isn’t needed -such as at the gym or on a flight
- Sleek industrial design that reflects Shure’s stylish look and feel in a portable package that’s ideal for travel
VERDICT: 98%

are you sure that volume controls are coming to iPhone?
I’ll wait for that I think…

Doesnt the new iPod Touch (with volume) headset have a different connector? so it wont work with iPhone?

you can’t see on Apple’s website, and they are currently not in store at Apple Stores near me, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Volume control would be sooo awesome on the remote though, because i hate having to dig in to my pocket to try to change volume…

My ipod 1G is my most valuable iPod, Pda and even more, and also has also been day that I gotten it. It continues to run the most recent iPod system software, and any iphone app I need it to operate. I’m working with it to post this comment right now. Iwould point out it is really a much more in comparison with only an “excellent hobbyist system” — you’ll find it an excellent iPod

i’m almost always scurrying around the online world the majority of the night and so I have a tendency to peruse significantly, which unfortunately isn’t typically a good thing as several of the blogs I visit are constructed of useless rubbish copied from similar websites a thousand times, on the other hand I’ll hand it to ya this page is indeed quite informative and offers a lot of unique information, so thanks for removing the pattern of simply just replicating other individual’s blogs and forums, if you ever wanna take up a couple of hands of zynga poker together with me just send me a message – you have my email
